Welcome to tourist.me.uk - Tourist and Visitor Information Resources

We believe that tourism should be accessible to all and endeavour to include brief accessibility information to give a flavour of what attractions provide in the way of accessibility

Select a Region from the menu at the top of the page – for general information and County by County information
Each County section includes -

•    Visitor Attractions – visitor centres, arts, crafts, theme parks, museums, heritage railways, playbarns, adventure parks etc.

•    Historic & Architectural Properties and Gardens – for Castles, abbeys, churches, country houses, estates and gardens, industrial heritage attractions and museums (English Heritage, National Trust and others)

•    Nature and Wildlife Attractions – for wildlife sanctuaries & parks, zoos, open farms etc.

•    Walk & Cycle – with info and links to walking and cycling routes in the area and cycle hire

•    Tourist Information – contact details for local tourist information centres and local tourist websites

Our aim

The aim of this website is to make it easy to find relevant tourist and visitor information by providing links to official and reputable websites as well as providing some information ourselves. Unlike other sites we do not fill out space with photos, there is a minimal amount of advertising which is necessary to cover the running costs and investment made in the site, we do endeavour to keep content simple, accurate and relevant as a resource for the public and tourist trade.

England – for visitors from other nations

The official tourist website for England is www.visitengland.com

Click on the 'Accommodation' link for a selection of hotel companies and room finder / hotel booking agents

The 'England for the first time' link will take you to reliable information resources and information to help in planning your visit or understanding some of the confusing British ways and the 'useful links' link provides just that, a selection of the nations world famous museums and other national institutions.

The current official advice and information from the UK Government for those travelling to the UK can be found at www.gov.uk/browse/visas-immigration/arriving-in-the-uk

For those with Mobility / Accessibility requirements

A few links that may be of use

Accessible Countryside for Everyone – lists accessible walks - nature reserves, country parks etc. - www.accessiblecountryside.org.uk

Changing Places (UK) Toilet Map – has a searchable map to locate Changing Places toilet close to the search location - www.uktoiletmap.org

Transport for London - Accessibility – information on travelling around London by public transport - tfl.gov.uk/transport-accessibility

I have taken the decision to remove the Environment Agency Bathing Water Data as it has in my opinion become unreliable and its delivery inconsistent. While Sea Swimming is quite safe at the majority of bathing beaches I urge you to seek local advice first regarding the pollution risk, a sad reflection on the state of our waters
Surfers Against Sewage have a real-time map to track sewage discharge and pollution risks around the UK showing where there are alerts in place. While these are small in number I think it prudent to draw your attention to this risk. - www.sas.org.uk/water-quality/sewage-pollution-alerts

My funds and time are sadly limited, I have upgraded the sites operating system and security structure (which was needed to keep the site running) during June, July and August 2023 and half of the pages have now been refreshed and data checked, if there are broken links please bear with me for now as I need to take a break for my health.
